Rainwater harvesting system at Chesil Beach
Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Visitor Centre, Dorset. In Partnership with Dorset Wildlife Trust

Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Visitor Centre is located adjacent to the world famous Chesil Beach and is in a central location on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

The centre has recently undergone a redevelopment and expansion, providing a range of additional facilities.

The centre is managed by the Dorset Wildlife trust and provides improved educational facilities, indoor catering and enhanced interpretation. The natural palette of timber and stone and innovative use of sustainable technology makes this a building entirely in sympathy with its unique natural location.

The rainwater harvesting system supplies water for flushing the toilets, thus reducing the demand for mains water. The Centre was officially opened on 21st July 2012. The system has a 4,000 litre storage tank and is expected to save about 121,000 litres of water each year.
