Training college for HS2 engineers
Harvested Rainwater for WC flushing
The Doncaster campus of the National College for High Speed Rail was constructed during 2016/17 and opened in time for the Autumn 2017 term. Along with it’s twin campus in Birmingham the college will cater for up to 1200 students per year.
Designed for low running costs and low emmissions, the building achieved a BREEAM Excellent award. As part of its sustainable design, rainwater harvesting was included to provide a reliable resource for flushing the many toilets around the building.
In addition to saving on the cost of mains water, the system hugely reduces the volume of stormwater run-off.
